Ready to Take the Chance Outside?

A look into the emotional benefits of rucking.

March, is known for green, clovers, beer and leprechauns. But did you know March is an excellent time for new beginnings. March used to be the first month of the calendar year (until 700 BC). It is when spring comes, the sun returns, and plants start their journey for the season.

Sounds like the perfect time to begin a new journey in your life too. A time to make a new commitment. In all reality is it ever a bad time to start something new? NO!!

With warmer, longer days, lets introduce you to rucking.

If you have been with us a while you undoubtably have heard Robert talk about rucking and how the physical benefits surpass many other activities. These benefits include denser bones, stronger muscles, increased cardiovascular health, improved posture, and increased gait quality and control (stability). BUT, have you heard about the psychological benefits?

Have you ever felt frustrated, gone for a walk and suddenly you had the answer or at minimum were calmer and understood the problem better? I know I have.

Our brains are wired to solve problems. It makes them happy. Big problems or small problems, when solved, the brain gets a hit of dopamine. Can you solve a problem when you are in the heat of the battle with a million chores starring at you to accomplish? No. No, you can’t. Your brain is not allowed to focus on the problem at hand.

Rucking is like a walking meditation, with all the physical benefits listed above. By giving your body something physical to do, you take away the distraction of thinking. Your physical body goes on autopilot and starts exerting effort. That effort increases the blood flow and oxygen levels to the brain, decreasing stress and anxiety. That leads to clearer thinking and problem solving.

By getting out and rucking, we are exerting effort, decreasing our daily stress, taking in nature (another mood booster), and allowing our mind time to decompress from the daily challenges. This allows for a time of reflection (can be on yourself, your behaviors, or a problem you might be facing), a time of growth. The number one goal of humans: GROWTH. We cannot stop growing, emotionally or physically. When we stop challenging our bodies, they stop working. Rucking achieves BOTH, physical and emotional growth. It’s a win-win.

I think it’s time for you to start.
